The Adventures of Prince Achmed (Die Abenteuer des Prinzen Achmed)

Dir: Lotte Reiniger | Germany | 1926 | 65 mins | Cert. PG

The Adventures of Prince Achmed is a 1926 German animated fairytale film, based on elements from the story “One Thousand and One Nights” which is, incidentally, about the time that it took Lotte Reiniger to make this delightful silhouette film, the earliest surviving full-length animated feature. Nearly a century later, Prince Achmed still stands as one of the great classics of animation – beautiful and mesmerizing – and will enthral children and film enthusiasts of all ages.

This film programme is available as an education event which showcases our working methods, and explores what music does and how it works in film.
